back injury?

am 25 female who slipped and fell landing on my left side almost 1 1/2 years ago. I landed primarily on the hip, elbow, and slamming my leg.

My first concern when I fell was my neck and right shoulder because they were previously injured and I have pins in the shoulder due to open stabilization surgery. I did not have immediate pain but when I woke up I had exteme pain and could barely walk. I went to ER and an x-ray showed I chipped the left hip at the outside of the socket. I was told it may be previous injury but I have never had so much pain in my hip my entire life before this injury. I was not put on crutches until the second week due to the left elbow pain, and previous right shoulder injury.

I was told the “chip” was no big deal and the back could be causing the pain. So I was sent for an MRI of the back and it showed bulging disks from L2-S1, mainly at L4-L5 and a radial tear at the same level.

My treatment has included cortisone shot in the hip without relief. An Epidural Steroid Injection into L4-L5 L5-S1 without relief. A negative EMG and QSART test. Many months of PT to realign my SI joint without benefit. The use of a SI belt without relief due to the pressure it causes and the fact I do not stay aligned. I have seen a hip surgeon 8 months after injury who does believe I can still be having hip pain. I have also seen two back surgeons who are afraid to do surgery because it is a multi level injury and it is not specific what the direct cause of pain is.

Even though I have been told the hip pain is caused by the back it is my belief that I have separate injuries because my pain is in two separate areas and patterns. Around my SI joint the pain goes into my butt and down the back of my thigh into my lower leg to the big toe side of my foot. The pain I believe due to my hip injury goes from around the socket, into the groin area, and down the outside of my leg into my knee and continues down the outside of my calf. I have a lot of pain sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Usually laying down gives me relief but often I cannot get relief. I have been prescribed 1/2 of 5mg Loritab at bedtime for the pain but it does not give me relief. Many times I cannot walk for more than 1/2 hour or be in a vehicle and even that long puts me out of commission for the rest of the day. I also walk with a limp and at times have to use crutches to take the weight off my hip.

I am looking for any advice or information that may help me with pain relief. I am also wondering if there are any tests that may help in diagnosing the injury correctly
ED TEACH— I can feel my left SI joint sticking out, there is litterally a bump that I can feel and the pain is located around the bump, goes into the bottom of my butt (my sit bone) and down the back of my leg. I also have pain that originates around the hip socket where I chipped it (see other article you responded to) and goes down the outside of my leg to my foot. I get pains from tenderness to touch, to stabbing, to shocks of pain and tingling into my leg due to the L5-S1 injury. They say this is the area that causes the most SI joint pain and sciatica.

fortunately I might have just gotten as lucky as can be because I was given a 9% rating for my back and I have disputed the rating and the doctor who is supposed to give me a new rating is now under investigation for falsifying medical reports to benefit insurance companies, so I be able to get to the one who is not going to hurt me in the long run

Migraine, headache, SUNCT, TMJ disorder resolved Part 2 of 2

For more information www.MidwestHeadaches.com If you are suffering from severe headaches, migraine other symptoms that are disabing you, don’t readily accept confusing diagnoses from neurologists as the final word. If an oral surgeon says that your jaw joints are “fine” and yet you have facial pain and headaches, don’t accept that as the final word on “TMJ”. These are not the final words, if it means living a life of pain and heavy medications. No need to keep suffering with migraine, headache, neck pain, back pain, jaw pain, ear pain, TMJ disorder and TMD when the underlying cause is a “bad bite”. It is not just teeth, but a poor jaw, head and neck alignment that could be causing these neurological symptoms. It may be hard to believe. But neuromuscular dentistry can actually solve these problems in most cases. So if you are tired of the pain and hate taking medications with no end in sight, there is hope. Watch this video of an actual patient who is a speech pathologist and a medical patient. This is part 2 of 2. She had been treated by several neurologists who diagnosed her, at different times, with Migraine, Headache, Trigeminal neuralgia, atypical dystonia, SUNCT and Tourette’s syndrome. They tried various medications Tegretol, Prednisone, Neurontin, Lyrica, Topamax and other anti-seizure and anti-depressant medications without any improvement. There were steroid injections into the back of the neck as well. She was told that since nothing they tried worked, it must

Need to know how to talk to my neurosurgeon?

My current Neurosurgeon has done 3 back surgeries on me and the outcome was positve and I was completely fused. Last January I fell very hard and injured the vertebrea just above where she operated and also have a herniated disk in my neck. My neck pain has always been on the right side and couple days ago an explosion of pain went through my LEFT side and I was in the hospital 2 days for pain. My doctor knows I am on medicaid and has made comments regarding it in the past. I am now seeing her after my fall for herniated neck and lumbar disk. She performed an epidural and facet injection and when i woke I began to go completely number from my toes up to my stomach. I then had an epidural headache and had to lie flat for 3 days! I’m not sure how to approach her as to her not having any personal compassion and if she sees me as a burden i would rather be referred elsewhere. Although, I do feel good knowing she has done the past surgeries and would perform future neck and back. How do you tell your doctor you are not happy with their demeanor without making them upset with you?
